Jean has made a significant contribution to the lives of 20 children over her 19 years of fostering with ISP

Our Chesham team held a tea party to celebrate the retirement of our wonderful Foster Carer, Jean.

Jean started her fostering journey with ISP in 1999 and has since provided a loving home for almost 20 children in care, including teenagers, young children, respite and emergency placements – many of whom she remains in touch with as they mature into adulthood.

To thank Jean for her hard work and dedication over the years, our Chesham team surprised her with a quintessentially British tea party; complete with finger sandwiches, a variety of traditional cakes and of course scones, jam and clotted cream.

Carers and staff enjoyed stories of some of her best (and most challenging) moments as a foster carer and celebrated her moving on to a very well deserved retirement.

Simon Peacock, Supervising Social Worker for ISP, gave a lovely speech on the day. He said, “Jean was in one of the first groups of foster carers recruited by ISP when it set up the original ISP Watford Centre (now ISP Chesham) in 1999 – the first centre outside Kent where ISP began.”

“Jean has made a significant contribution to the lives of 20 children over her 19 years of fostering with ISP, providing long term, short term, emergency and respite placements.”

Simon continued, “Jean’s commitment to the life of one particular young person whom she fostered from childhood and continues to support into adulthood, is particularly commendable as it goes far and beyond the role of being a foster carer.”

“Jean has supported her fellow foster carers and will be missed by all. We celebrate Jean’s individual work with ISP, thank her for her contribution to the life and work of ISP and wish her well in her retirement.”

From all at ISP, we would like to thank Jean for all her hard work over the years and wish her the very best as she moves on to the next chapter of her life.
